Does anyone know if he went? Perhaps he did, as an informant?

Thanks for sharing. Do you know anything else surrounding this letter? Did he consult with the Rebbe about it? It is interesting that he received an invitation though he was a staunch supporter of the Rebbe from the get go.
he received an invitation becasue he was from the hanhola of one of the major lubavitcher yeshivos.
but you are right, he was always a staunch supporter of the Rebbe. He told me that even before the nesius all his involvement with the yeshiva went through the Rebbe and not the Rashag.
interesting to note that the invitation the FR composed for the rebbe was R"T ahava and lihavdil this one is R"T veib...
